Sticking deadbolts, spinning handles and doors that will not latch.
Before we touch the lock, you know what it will cost.
Call if you need someone right now. Otherwise send this and we will contact you back.
Most locks give warning before they fail. The key needs jiggling, the bolt drags, the handle has play in it. Fixing it then is cheaper than replacing it after it leaves you outside.
These tell you quickly whether the lock is the problem or the door is.
Alignment problems, loose handles and worn cylinders are usually repairs. A lock body that cracked when someone forced it, or hardware too old to find parts for, is usually a replacement. We tell you which before we start.
Wooden doors swell in the wet months and shrink in the dry ones, so a bolt that was fine in the fall can bind in winter. Moving the strike plate a few millimeters usually takes care of it.
Often the lock is fine and the door has shifted, so the bolt is dragging against the frame. That is usually a simple adjustment.
Sometimes. It depends on what broke. If it cannot be repaired properly, we replace it.
Not regular oil. It collects dirt and makes things worse over time. Use a dry lubricant made for locks, or call us if it is already sticking.
