Closers installed, adjusted and replaced.
Before we touch the lock, you know what it will cost.
Call if you need someone right now. Otherwise send this and we will contact you back.
A door closer controls how a door returns. When it fails the door either slams hard enough to damage the frame or drifts and never latches, which means the lock is doing nothing.
Most hydraulic closers have separate valves for different parts of the swing, which is why a door that slams can usually be fixed without new hardware.
Oil on the door or the floor under it, a door that slams no matter how it is adjusted, an arm that rubs the frame, or a door that no longer stays shut on a windy day. A leaking closer cannot be adjusted back, so that one gets replaced.
Some closers can hold a door open at a set angle. A fire rated door should never be propped open with a wedge or a hook, and if it has to stay open, that is done with hardware made for the purpose.
The closer is set too fast or it has lost fluid. Adjustment fixes the first, the second usually needs a new closer.
The closer is too weak or set too slow at the end of its swing. That leaves the lock doing nothing, and it is usually a quick adjustment.
Yes. Once a closer leaks it cannot be adjusted back, so we replace it.
