California licenses locksmith companies through the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. Ours is number 7041. You do not have to take our word for any of this. The Bureau publishes the record, and the link below opens its own search page so you can pull it up yourself.
Search by the license number, or by the business name exactly as it shows on the record. The company is also insured.
It tells you the company is registered with the state, and that the record is public. To hold a locksmith company license in California, every owner and corporate officer has to pass a criminal history check through the Department of Justice and the FBI, and so does every registered locksmith employee. The record also shows the status and the expiry date, so a license that has lapsed is easy to spot.
If you are calling someone else, ask for the license number before they arrive, then look it up on the same page. A company that will not give you a number over the phone is telling you something.
One number, answered around the clock, in English, Spanish, Russian and Chinese. Not urgent? Pick the time. Same day, later in the week or on the weekend, whatever works for you.
Answered day and night, every day of the year.
